WOMEN'S BOXING DATABASE
QUICK HISTORY
Women have been boxing for many years, it is safe to say they have been boxing for centuries. Some archives like Wikipedia have noted that they have been boxing on record since the early 1700s in London. The majority of fights were limited to fairs and market street entertainment.
WHY WOMEN BOX?
Women and girls come to boxing for many reasons, including self defence, confidence building, wanting a new skill, trying something different – in fact many female boxers admit that originally they just wanted to try it and when did - they enjoyed it from first experience straight away. If we are talking mainstream, it is important to mention then that fitness boxing – also known as “Fit Box” for short, has taken a massive positive impact to women in boxing. Fit Box is short for Fitness Boxing where you will see the majority of women in upper class gyms using a range of free standing punch bag boxing equipment and hitting punch bags lightly while jumping lightly on the spot – it’s a mixture of dance, aerobics, discipline, control and energy – it’s very fun and the sport has seen an increase of women into the sport.

To be competing at world champion like some of the listings in the directory you need be eating and sleeping boxing, healthy and though through mental and physical dynamic daily activity. When people ask about becoming a professional football player the first thing before talent is their fitness ability and love and passion for the sport, you need to be eating and sleeping football, day in and day out, playing all the time and really understanding the game, picking up skills on the streets and developing yourself. This is how talent and success is – hard work.
